Sebastian Gellwitzki is a Berlin-based photographer working at the intersection of portraiture, narrative, and collaborative artistic practice. He grew up on a farm in Hesse, later moving to Lake Constance before settling in Berlin — a trajectory shaped by community, landscape, and a lasting curiosity about people and the world. Trained as a video and film maker in Stuttgart, he carried a filmmaker’s sensibility into photography when he discovered the medium in 2022, initially through long walks in Hamburg and Berlin.

What began as an exploration of shapes and light quickly evolved into portrait and street photography — and with it, a growing clarity about where his real interest lies: in people, their stories, and the narratives that reveal the many facets of human life. Over time, a defining focus has emerged in working with artists — dancers, performers, and creatives whose embodied skills and intuitive relationship to space allow for a playful, experimental approach to image-making. Rather than directing, Gellwitzki creates conditions for encounter, allowing images to emerge from genuine presence and movement.

His work explores romance, longing, and the joy of human encounter — portraying life in its quieter, more intimate registers. He continues to deepen his practice, finding his way ever more distinctly through the possibilities photography opens up.

On his website, he invites you to discover his work, exchange ideas, or connect with him directly.
